Marketing Tool Reviews

Typefully review

Typefully is the best place to write short posts, and since July it is cheap for one person and priced per brand for everyone else

A writing-first editor and scheduler for X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack Notes

The short answer

Typefully is a calm editor with a scheduling queue behind it, built for people who write their own posts on X and LinkedIn. Solo writers get almost everything for $99 a year on Creator. Ghostwriters and agencies pay $18 to $20 a month for each person or brand they manage, which is fair for a few clients and adds up past ten.

Pick it if

  • You are a founder or creator who writes your own posts and wants to draft once and send to X, LinkedIn and Threads together.
  • X is your main channel and you want real analytics on it, since Typefully's analytics are built around X.
  • You are a ghostwriter with a handful of clients who need to comment on drafts before they go out.
  • You want an AI agent or Claude to queue drafts for you through the official API, MCP server or Claude connector.

Skip it if

  • LinkedIn is your only channel and you want deep LinkedIn analytics or lead lists; a LinkedIn-specific tool like Taplio covers that.
  • You post mostly images and video to Instagram, TikTok or YouTube; Typefully does not publish there.
  • You manage 20 or more brands; at $18 to $20 per social set a month, a flat-priced scheduler will usually cost less.
  • You want the tool to generate your content for you; its AI is an editing assistant, not a post factory.

What Typefully actually is

Typefully is a distraction-free editor for short social posts and threads, with a queue, a calendar and analytics behind it. You write in one place, preview how the post will look, and schedule it to any of the connected accounts in a social set, which is Typefully's name for one person's or one brand's bundle of accounts. Each set keeps its own drafts, calendar, analytics and settings.

It started as a side project of the team behind Mailbrew, Fabrizio Rinaldi and Francesco Di Lorenzo, and has stayed a small, remote company. Twitter co-founder Evan Williams invested in 2022. As of October 2026 it is still independent and still shipping often: the changelog shows Substack Notes support in July, a rebuilt calendar in August and LinkedIn polls in October.

Why writers like it

The editor is the product. Drafts feel like a notes app, threads split cleanly, and shared drafts let a client or colleague leave comments on specific lines before anything is published. For a ghostwriter that comment loop is the main reason to pay, because it replaces the Google Doc plus screenshot plus Slack back-and-forth.

The newer reason is agents. Typefully has a public API, an MCP server that works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and others, and since September a listing in Claude's connector directory. If you already draft with an AI assistant, you can have it drop drafts straight into your Typefully queue for you to edit and approve, instead of copy-pasting.

The July 2026 pricing change

Typefully reworked its plans twice this year. For new signups the lineup is now Free, Creator and Business. Creator is $99 a year, annual billing only, and covers one social set and one user with AI writing, X analytics and up to 1,000 posts a month. Business is priced per social set: $20 a month each, or $216 a year each (about $18 a month), with unlimited users, teams and permissions, Slack notifications, higher API limits and up to 50 social sets.

The practical effect: a solo writer pays less than before, and anyone managing more than one brand moves straight to Business. Earlier in 2026 a $10 Pro plan allowed up to 10 social sets; that plan no longer appears on the pricing page, so if you see it quoted in older reviews, it is not what you will be offered.

Where it falls short

Analytics are X analytics. The comparison table on the pricing page lists detailed metrics, profile conversion rate and CSV export under an X heading, and nothing equivalent for LinkedIn. If LinkedIn is where your pipeline comes from, you will still be checking LinkedIn's native stats or another tool.

LinkedIn tagging has improved but is limited by LinkedIn itself. Typefully's March changelog says it remembers companies you have mentioned and calls personal mentions an initial version that depends on LinkedIn. Product Hunt reviewers also mention attachment size limits and the occasional collaboration glitch.

What it gets right

  • The editor is fast and pleasant enough that people actually write in it instead of in a notes app.
  • Creator at $99 a year is one of the cheapest serious schedulers for a single person posting to X and LinkedIn.
  • Shared drafts with inline comments make client approval simple for ghostwriters.
  • Publishes to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack Notes from one draft.
  • Official API, MCP server and Claude connector, so AI agents can queue drafts without hacks.
  • The free plan includes scheduling, the API and MCP, which is enough to test the workflow properly.

Where it falls short

  • Analytics cover X in depth and LinkedIn barely, which matters if LinkedIn is your main channel.
  • Creator is annual-only, so there is no cheap month-to-month option for one person.
  • Per-social-set Business pricing gets expensive for agencies with many clients.
  • No Instagram, TikTok or YouTube publishing, so it does not replace a general social media manager.

Free option: Free forever: one social set, one user, 10 published posts a month, advanced scheduling, API, MCP and agent access, limited media uploads. No analytics and no AI features.

Free $0 1 social set, 1 user, 10 posts/month, scheduling and calendar, all six platforms, API and MCP.
Creator $99/year (annual billing only) 1 social set, 1 user, up to 1,000 posts/month, X analytics, AI writing assistant and rewrites, unlimited media uploads.
Business $20/mo per social set, or $216/year per social set (about $18/mo) Everything in Creator, up to 50 social sets, 1,500 posts/month, unlimited users, teams with roles and permissions, comments with Slack notifications, higher API rate limits, higher AI usage.

What you will actually pay

A solo founder or creator pays $99 a year and rarely needs more. A ghostwriter with five clients plus their own accounts needs six social sets on Business: about $108 a month billed yearly, or $120 a month billed monthly. A marketing team with one company account and two founders' accounts is three sets, around $54 to $60 a month, with unlimited seats.

Your first week with Typefully

If you sign up today, do these in this order.

  1. Sign up on the free plan and connect the accounts you post from. Put one person's or one brand's accounts in the same social set, and keep clients in separate sets from day one so drafts and analytics never mix.
  2. Set your queue: pick the days and times you want posts to go out, so scheduling a draft is one click instead of a date picker every time.
  3. Write and schedule a week of posts in one sitting. The free plan caps you at 10 published posts a month, which is enough to judge the editor but not to run a real cadence.
  4. If you are a ghostwriter, share a draft link with one client and have them comment on it. If that loop works for them, it is the reason to pay for Business.
  5. If you already draft with Claude or ChatGPT, connect the Typefully MCP server or Claude connector and have it create drafts in your queue, then edit and approve them in Typefully.
  6. At the end of the week decide: one person stays on Creator at $99 a year; anything with clients or teammates goes to Business, billed yearly if you are sure.

Gotchas to know before you commit

  • Creator is billed annually only. There is no monthly Creator option on the current pricing page, so the cheapest way to try paid features is to commit for a year.
  • Business is charged per social set, not per seat. Seats are unlimited, but every new client or brand adds $18 to $20 a month.
  • The free plan counts published posts, at 10 a month. A thread or a cross-post can use your allowance faster than you expect.
  • Analytics are for X. LinkedIn post performance still has to come from LinkedIn or another tool.
  • Publishing X Articles and 1080p X video depends on the connected X account having X Premium, according to Typefully's changelog.

Verdict

For anyone who writes their own posts, Typefully is the tool to start with. Creator at $99 a year is an easy yes for a solo founder or creator on X and LinkedIn, and the editor alone justifies it. Ghostwriters with a few clients should go to Business and treat the per-brand fee as a cost of each client. Agencies with dozens of brands, and anyone whose world is LinkedIn analytics or Instagram, should look elsewhere.

Typefully questions, answered

How much does Typefully cost in 2026?
As of October 2026, Typefully has a free plan with 10 posts a month, Creator at $99 a year (annual billing only) for one person, and Business at $20 a month per social set or $216 a year per social set for teams and agencies.
What is a social set in Typefully?
A social set is one person's or one brand's group of connected accounts, for example a founder's X, LinkedIn and Threads. Each set has its own drafts, calendar, analytics and settings. Business pricing is charged per social set, not per user.
Does Typefully work for LinkedIn?
Yes. Typefully publishes and schedules LinkedIn posts, including PDF carousels, polls, first comments, reposts and company mentions. Its analytics, though, are built around X, so LinkedIn performance tracking is limited.
Is Typefully good for ghostwriters?
Yes for a handful of clients. Shared drafts with inline comments make approvals easy, and Business gives unlimited seats. Each client is a separate social set at $18 to $20 a month, so the cost grows with your client list.
Can AI agents post through Typefully?
Yes. Typefully has a public API, an MCP server that works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients, and an official Claude connector. Agents can create drafts, schedule them and manage the calendar for you to review.
